Going hard before going home
Day 5 again saw some tricky, light conditions with a cold southerly hitting the bay early in the morning. The race committee sent the sailors ashore early at 10am without starting a race. The sailors then hit the water again around 11:30am to finally commence racing. In the all competitive bronze fleet Matt Wylie holds the clear play of the day in bronze fleet. Even though his team had a comfortable 1,2 lead, Wylie sitting in 2nd place decided the umpires were a little bored

Round Robin 2 Completed – Day 4
Photography – Susana Buckton Day 4 of the schools’ team sailing nationals saw the sailors hit the water early with hot and light conditions. Many teams were keen to carry their form forward from the day before, others were looking to make improvements on their day 3 results. With the OA on track to do 3 round robins, the opportunity to be promoted around fleets was still there – it was game on for all teams. Bronze had the most competitive day they have had all regatta. Tuesday's Testing Times...
It was a windy day out on the water with gusts of 20+ knots stopping racing early around 11 am for a few hours. However, the organisers persevered and at about 1pm racing resumed. Gold/silver course managed to complete race 45 and Bronze fleet will start tomorrow with race 24. In Bronze Fleet, it was all about Glendowie, displaying some class sailing, with Greg Hunter pulling off the play of the day, with a brilliant mark 3 trap, taking out 3 opposition boats and saving his t

It was a busy day out on the water of day one of the 2016 NZ School Team Sailing Nationals. The day was filled with light winds and some frustrating conditions for the sailors and race committee. Bronze fleet and it’s the new entrance, the all girls’ team from the Cook Islands making their presence felt strongly, with 7 wins from their 7 races, with Glendowie and Nelson Girls following close behind with 6 and 5 wins respectively. Countdown to Nationals 2016
There are 31 teams entered for this year’s regatta, which has led to a change to the Notice of Race. Basically, because we have an odd number of teams for 3 fleets, we have put the extra team in the bronze fleet, rather than the gold fleet, as in the NOR. This is to maintain safe load requirements on the Jane Gifford, the gold-silver course change-over boat. Any team able to bring a suitable umpire boat, please email Ross. Also, a few reminders for the lead up & before the ho

Auckland Grammar win South of the Bridge Regionals
From the results of the incomplete round robin from day 1, a gold and silver draw for day 2 was constructed, which worked well. The breeze filled in early, although light, but steady, out of the south west. RR2 was able to be completed, followed by the start of another split fleet round robin. However, by about race 12 at 3pm, there was a major wind-shift and sailing was abandoned. There was a quick prize-giving using the results from the completed gold and silver round robin
