Day 1 Nationals 2016
It was a busy day out on the water of day one of the 2016 NZ School Team Sailing Nationals. The day was filled with light winds and some frustrating conditions for the sailors and race committee. Bronze fleet and it’s the new entrance, the all girls’ team from the Cook Islands making their presence felt strongly, with 7 wins from their 7 races, with Glendowie and Nelson Girls following close behind with 6 and 5 wins respectively. Countdown to Nationals 2016
There are 31 teams entered for this year’s regatta, which has led to a change to the Notice of Race. Basically, because we have an odd number of teams for 3 fleets, we have put the extra team in the bronze fleet, rather than the gold fleet, as in the NOR. This is to maintain safe load requirements on the Jane Gifford, the gold-silver course change-over boat. Any team able to bring a suitable umpire boat, please email Ross. Queen Charlotte Top of the South Champions
Queen Charlotte College have taken out the Top of the South ahead of last year’s bronze medallists, Marlborough Boys’ College. Congratulations to all teams and thanks to those who helped run such a great regatta.

Top of the South - 2016
Results from the Top of the South regional regatta, being held at Nelson Yacht Club, have the teams divided in to gold and silver, by mid-afternoon of day 2. Auckland Grammar win South of the Bridge Regionals
From the results of the incomplete round robin from day 1, a gold and silver draw for day 2 was constructed, which worked well. The breeze filled in early, although light, but steady, out of the south west. RR2 was able to be completed, followed by the start of another split fleet round robin. However, by about race 12 at 3pm, there was a major wind-shift and sailing was abandoned. There was a quick prize-giving using the results from the completed gold and silver round robin

Close competition at the South of the Bridge Regatta
Provisional results after 33 races of RR 1 today, have Auckland Grammar, Kristin, Kings and St Kentigern A all on 5 wins.

Final results include one full round robin, plus 2 RRs each of gold and silver.

North of the Bridge – Day 1, RR1
One full round robin has been completed at Algies Bay. The fleet was then split into gold and silver. The day finished soon after 5pm, after getting most of the next RR completed.

2016 Secondary Schools Nationals
Algies Bay is the venue for the 2016 Secondary Schools Team Sailing Nationals. Registration, weigh-in and Briefing are to be held on Saturday 23 April, with racing starting on Sunday 24 going through to include Friday 29.
