Open Team Sailing Nationals 2021
The 2021 edition of the G.J. Gardner Open Team Sailing National Championships was arguably the best open regatta yet. The ten competing teams got through two full round robins in two days, before the final series was unfortunately blown off by winds well in excess of 30 knots on the third and final day. Congratulations is due to the ‘Crossbred Kiwis’ led by Reuben Corbett for taking home the title for another year! Full event report and results can be found below.

Team Sailing Nationals Roundup
The Secondary Schools Team Sailing National Championships is all over and done for another year, with the regatta this year probably consisting of the most racing that we have ever managed at the event. Day 1 After a windy opening day at the team sailing nationals, Waimea College currently sit on top of the leader board, followed closely behind in the gold flight by Rangitoto and Westlake Boys rounding out the top three. Registration
Registration will be open from 13:00 to 17:30 today at the Mahurangi Community Centre in Snells Beach. Make sure teams arrive for a weigh-in and aiming to be over 110kg! At registration you will get your flight allocation and your copies of the race draws so you can see who you’re up against first! Competitors Welcome and Briefing will follow shortly after at 18:00!

Lower South Island Regionals
We had five teams racing at this year’s Lower South Island Team Sailing Regatta, Christchurch Boys, Timaru Boys A, Timaru Boys B, Mount Aspiring A & Wanaka/Otago Girls Combined. With a wide range of abilities in the fleet the decision was taken to split the fleet into an A and B flight to give the teams more competitive racing so that everyone got the most out of the regatta. CNI Regatta 2021
The 2021 CNI Teams Regionals, hosted by Lake Taupo Yacht Club took place over three beautiful days of racing, with a wide range of wind that gave teams a really challenging regatta. 11 teams from all over the North Island travelled over for the regatta and it was well worth the trip! Entries for the Secondary School National Championships are open now! The entry form is attached the the Notice of Race which can be found below. Early entries and expressions of interest are encouraged. After the 2020 edition was cancelled due to Covid-19 more teams than ever should be ready and raring to go for the regatta this year!

Umpires Course 2021
NZTSA are happy to publish that we will be running an umpires training course just prior to the school’s national championships in April. Provisional dates for the course will be the 24th & 25th of April, the weekend immediately preceding the nationals week. This is being run in co-ordination with Yachting NZ and is a great idea to do for any level of umpiring and rules experience. This will be run out of Sandspit Yacht Club over that weekend.
