CNI Regatta 2021

The 2021 CNI Teams Regionals, hosted by Lake Taupo Yacht Club took place over three beautiful days of racing, with a wide range of wind that gave teams a really challenging regatta. 11 teams from all over the North Island travelled over for the regatta and it was well worth the trip!

Napier Boys High put in a stellar performance to take the regatta win with 12 wins from 15 races in the gold flight, closely followed by Tauranga Boys on 10 wins. The first girls team went to Napier Girls High in 5th place overall.

The Cambridge Combined team took the top spot in the silver flight, improving loads over the three days.

It’s always awesome to see lots of younger, fresh sailors getting into team sailing, for many sailors especially in the silver flight this was their first regatta. Each and every team had so many positives to take away from the regatta and I’m sure everyone will be back stronger next year to give the other teams a run for their money!

Massive thanks to all the team at Lake Taupo Yacht Club, especially Kerry for putting a huge shift in organising the regatta and Joanna for managing the results and on-shore side so the regatta runs as smoothly as possible.
