Top of the South Regionals 2023
The Top of the South Regionals was hosted this year by the Marlborough Colleges Sailing Club & the Queen Charlotte Yacht Club over the 30th March to 1st April. After a good southerly blow moved up the South island on Wednesday night and temperatures dropped, Thursday 30 th saw all interisland ferries cancelled due to 6 metre swells in Cook Strait. Picton Harbour looked very different however and we waited until lunchtime for some breeze to get the regatta underway. With seve

Auckland Cup 2023 Report
The Auckland Team Sailing Regionals was held over the 30-31 of March out of the Royal Akarana Yacht Club, with 21 teams on the final entry list the stage was set for a great regatta. The first day started with a trickle of breeze from the wrong direction and a handful of races were attempted and led to a few time-outs. The wind soon swung and filled in from the forecast south-west and steadily built through the day. The race committee led by RO Paul Wotton did an amazing job

Central North Island Regionals
A mind-bending three day battle with the wind and competitors saw the Napier Boys team once again retain their title as the winner of the central north islands! Teams travelled from New Plymouth up to Tauranga to pit themselves against each other in a challenging regatta. There were a few pauses throughout the regatta to wait for the wind to play ball and get the racing underway, but the race committee did an excellent job getting 108 races away. Massive credit as well goes t

Auckland Cup 2022
A tough, light and shifty two days took place in the waters of Okahu Bay at the Royal Akarana Yacht Club over the 30th/31st March. Despite the winds best efforts and some lengthy delays in the mornings before racing, the race committee team managed to pump through 79 races across two days! Teams were initially split into two pools to complete a qualification stage, after which they would be drawn into a knockout final series. From pool A – Auckland Grammar, Takapuna Grammar,

Lower South Island Regionals
We had five teams racing at this year’s Lower South Island Team Sailing Regatta, Christchurch Boys, Timaru Boys A, Timaru Boys B, Mount Aspiring A & Wanaka/Otago Girls Combined. With a wide range of abilities in the fleet the decision was taken to split the fleet into an A and B flight to give the teams more competitive racing so that everyone got the most out of the regatta. All the teams acknowledged that the Christchurch Boys team were the winners of the regatta but also

Lower South Island Regatta
Sunday dawned cool with a light breeze, so teams went afloat, but only 2 races completed before the wind died, but the sun shone. So ashore until just before 2pm, when the forecast light wind came in. 1 round robin completed and teams off the water soon after 6pm. RR2 planned for Monday, with an earlier start time, weather permitting.

2019 Lower North Islands
Final Day Day three lightened off again, but did have the Race Officer re-jig the round robin so that every team had equal chance with all of the boats. As the wind lightened we did manage to get another complete round robin done meaning three for the regatta. Really close earlier rounds meant it could have been three or four teams in contention for the trophy. Wellington College losing to Nelson Girls thought they ended their chances – but the girls also beat Nelson Boys
