Umpires Course 2021

NZTSA are happy to publish that we will be running an umpires training course just prior to the school’s national championships in April. Provisional dates for the course will be the 24th & 25th of April, the weekend immediately preceding the nationals week. This is being run in co-ordination with Yachting NZ and is a great idea to do for any level of umpiring and rules experience. This will be run out of Sandspit Yacht Club over that weekend.

It will comprise of a theory/learning element and a written exam for those who want to go for their club/national umpire qualification as a result of the course. There will also be an element of on-water learning taking place over the course of the regatta where trainees will be paired with an experienced umpire to help them visualize the rules on the water.

This is also a great course to do for those who are towards the top end of school who may be interested in coaching teams racing after they finish – as a deeper understanding of the rules is so useful when coaching younger sailors.

Expressions of interest, sign ups and any other questions are welcome to be sent to Jamie (at nztsasecretary@gmail.com).
