Final Wrap from Top of the South – full sets of results
The regatta was pretty trying for the first two days (both for sailors and the officials) with an unusual easterly weather pattern for Nelson. This brought rain, cold temperatures and shifty winds with the course being set in the lee of the Port Hills beside the harbour. Thankfully the breeze came through on the Saturday (along with the sun) from our natural Northerly direction allowing the first round robin to be fully completed – a total of 91 races. The RR1 results were th

Auckland Cup 2018
Day 1 was a great day with sunshine and steady conditions, however, the breeze was very light. Two Round Robins (split fleet) were completed and everyone was happy. An earlier start Day 2 with plenty of breeze to start 16 +/- knots steady from the NE. The Race Committee thought that they were going to easily march through another round robin and have an early prize giving and away home for a cup of tea. However, the breeze started to build and was soon touching 20 knots and a

Rangi win North of the Bridge
Day 2 at Algies dawned clear & bright, but the weather deteriorated during the morning, with sailing abandoned about midday, with just 4 races to be sailed to finish RR2. However, this year’s newbies Rangitoto College win, just ahead of Westlake Boys, then Whangarei Boys. After a delayed start due to sea and wind conditions, it was a good day today with one round robin completed (except for Race 12 which will be first up tomorrow). The teams came ashore for a late lunch, but

Central North Island Regionals at Taupo
DAY THREE The final day started with plenty of time for ‘reflection’!!, but eventually a steady & consistent, albeit light wind, that only required a couple of minor tweaks to the course, as the remaining 16 races of round 2 were completed. Ties were created in the final races of the day, which saw Napier Girls A beat Napier Boys B to go to the top of Gold, with New Plymouth Boys in 3rd place. Cambridge were the convincing winner of silver fleet, with the last race of the day

Close racing at Picton
Day 2 – Another great day on the water at Picton Again we waited for the breeze to fill in and then enjoyed beautiful team sailing conditions all afternoon, with the occasional wind shadow effects as the ferry berthed just at the top of our course on Picton Harbour. We completed round robin one and the first 9 races of Gold and Silver fleets. Queen Charlotte College came out on top of the 14 team round robin after winning over the Marlborough Boys College with Mount Aspiring

Close Racing at Top of South & Auckland Cup
After a slow start – a wait until 1pm yesterday before a beautiful gentle breeze came in all afternoon on Picton Harbour – managed to compete 47 races, coming off the water around 6pm. Marlborough Boys and Queen Charlotte College have won their races so far but there are plenty more races before the end of the round robin. Mt Aspiring and Motueka High School are also doing well but anything can happen as we continue the racing before dividing into gold and silver fleets. A
