The regatta was pretty trying for the first two days (both for sailors and the officials) with an unusual easterly weather pattern for Nelson. This brought rain, cold temperatures and shifty winds with the course being set in the lee of the Port Hills beside the harbour. Thankfully the breeze came through on the Saturday (along with the sun) from our natural Northerly direction allowing the first round robin to be fully completed – a total of 91 races. The RR1 results were then compiled and with the building Northerly breeze the Gold fleet only was sent out with reefed sails to contest a 21 race gold fleet round robin. The overall winner of the regatta being Christchurch Boys High.   Yuri Schokking, NBYTRA Chairperson

Incredible dinner by the local team – thanks from Ross!
