Rarotonga Training Week
The Rarotonga Team Sailing Week concluded on Wednesday with 20+ happy but tired sailors coming off the water after the last round of team racing. The three days of racing concluded with a mini round-robin series between the Cook Islands and two New Zealand combined teams. All of the races were really tight and we saw lots of team sailing that wouldn’t have been possible a week ago. With a wide range of abilities in the fleet the decision was taken to split the fleet into an A and B flight to give the teams more competitive racing so that everyone got the most out of the regatta. Abaco Christmas Regatta Day 1
Grey skies and gusty conditions greeted the six teams sailing in the NZTSA Christmas Regatta, sponsored by Abaco on Jervois. The conditions soon burned off and even before the briefing was held the sun was starting to shine through. Teams spent the morning battling around the gusty and shifty racecourse in Okahu Bay, finishing 24 races before heading ashore for some coaching tips as a part of the regatta. The conditions were unrelenting for the teams in the afternoon, along w

Christmas Regatta Notice
J ust to update teams with some info about logistics for the time of the regatta – if the America’s Cup racing choose to race on one of the inner courses, then some roads around Orakei and Devonport will have some restrictions on. The main way this could affect our regatta is that between 13:00 and 20:00, Tamaki Drive (eastbound) will be closed, the road will be running as a one-way road going westbound. This means to access RAYC and ASC you will need to do a loop around to M

We are planning on a full season to be going ahead almost as normal. Here is a document that outlines what NZTSA’s policy is regarding the Covid-19 situation, hopefully

Lockdown Virtual Team Sailing Regatta
Thanks to some excellent team work by Matthew Smith at Whangarei, 5 teams entered a virtual team regatta involving informal teams from Whangarei Boys [2], Whangarei Girls, Mahurangi and Kerikeri High School. The format involved a draw of 20 races set at specific times by Matthew. The draw obviously listed who sailed against whom, the time of the race and also gave the teams sail colours to select from the Google programme. Each pair of teams dialled into Google at the approp

Covid-19 Update – SSNats 2020
Due to the ever changing Covid-19 situation most of the regional events have now been suspended for the time being. This is formal notification that the Secondary Schools Team Sailing Nationals at Lake Hood this year has been cancelled. We feel that the April 6 review date for a decision was too distant for teams to attempt to request refunds on accommodation, etc. Looking ahead NZTSA is considering the possibility of holding some regattas during the Winter Tournament Week eg

Update - 17 March 2020
At the moment both the government and school sport are not stopping the regionals from going ahead Hence, NZTSA is hoping all the regionals do go ahead as planned while we have the okay. It would be great for the 55 plus regional teams who have been training this season can at least be able to finish off on a high at a regional event. We hope that schools, sailors, supporters, etc should not however, feel any pressure to attend these events. Regarding holding the Nationals at
